GROWING THE DIVERSITY OF THE 988 MENTAL HEALTH HOTLINE

Calls to the 9-8-8 mental health hotline, which started last year, continue to rise. Counselors in have started answering calls in Spanish, and a pilot line dedicated to LGBTQ youth also started last year. State and local call centers, who operate the hotlines, are looking to add to the diversity of the service.

NEW ABC SHOW “THE COMPANY YOU KEEP” PREVIEW

In the new ABC primetime series “The Company You Keep,” which premieres on Sunday, February 19th, a night of passion leads to love between con man Charlie and undercover CIA officer Emma, who are unknowingly on a collision course professionally. While Charlie ramps up the “family business” so he can get out for good, Emma’s closing in on the vengeful criminal who holds Charlie’s family debts in hand - forcing them to reckon with the lies they’ve told so they can save themselves and their families from disastrous consequences. Jason Nathanson has a preview.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH: BLACK-OWNED TOY BUSINESS

Following the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown and civil unrest of 2020, there was an increase in the number of Black-owned businesses and the amount of support given to these businesses. Black-owned businesses have increased by over 30% since pre-pandemic levels. We profile The Magnus Company, a Black-owned small business that sells toys reflecting Black culture and featuring Black children.

10TH ANNIVERSARY OF ROBIN ROBERTS BACK AT THE GMA ANCHOR DESK AFTER HER BONE MARROW TRANSPLANT

On Tuesday, February 21, ABC News’ “Good Morning America” co-anchor Robin Roberts will mark 10 years back at the “GMA” anchor desk following a successful bone marrow transplant from her sister, Sally-Ann, in 2012. Roberts was away from “GMA” for 174 days after her diagnosis of myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a rare blood disorder that affects the bone marrow. She returned in February 2013. “GMA” will celebrate Roberts’ 10-year anniversary on Tuesday, Feb. 21. Shirleen Allicot sits down with Robin to talk about the anniversary.

BLACK HISTORY MONTH: RESTORATION OF NEGRO LEAGUE BASEBALL STADIUM

Hinchliffe Stadium in Paterson, New Jersey, is one of the few stadiums that hosted Negro League baseball games in the 1930’s and 1940’s that is still standing. More than 20 members of the Baseball Hall of Fame played in the Stadium in its heyday. Now, the stadium is being refurbished as part of a redevelopment project for the city of Paterson.
