NewsOne COVERAGE OF THE 91st ACADEMY AWARDS

 

 

The 91st Oscars will be held on Sunday, February 24, 2019, at the Dolby Theatre®â€¯at Hollywood & Highland Center®â€¯in Hollywood, and will be televised live by ABC.  NewsOne will be providing full coverage.

LIVE SHOTS: 

 

Friday, February 22: NewsOne offers Custom Live Shots from 4:00 pm ET through 9:30 pm ET from the Red Carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles with correspondent Marci Gonzalez. 

 

Saturday, February 23: NewsOne will offer custom live shots from 6:00 am ET through 1:30 pm ET from the Red Carpet with correspondent Danya Bacchus.   

 

Sunday, February 24: NewsOne will offer custom live shots from 6:00 am ET through 1:30 pm ET from the Red Carpet with correspondent Danya Bacchus.  We will offer group and ** limited ** custom live shots from 4:30 pm ET to 6:30 pm ET from the Red Carpet with correspondent Marci Gonzalez.  Group live shots are available at: 4:31 pm ET, 5:01 pm ET, 5:31 pm ET, and 6:01 pm ET.  We will pick up again with group and custom live shots right after the conclusion of the Oscars broadcast through 2:30 am ET from the Red Carpet with Marci Gonzalez.  

 

NOTE: There are no group live shots offered after 6:01 pm ET because the Oscars network coverage begins on the network at 6:30 pm ET.  The group live shot after the Oscars will start 1:00 (one minute) after the end of the Oscars broadcast. 

 

Monday, February 25: NewsOne will offer group and custom live shots from 4:30 am ET through 9:30 am ET from the Red Carpet with correspondent Danya Bacchus.

Monday, February 18 through Thursday, February 21: Marci Gonzalez and Danya Bacchus will be reporting the following feature packages (all will be fed by 4:00 am ET each day so you can use them in any newscast that day): 

 

Monday, February 18: 

  • “No Host Oscars”: For the first time in more than three decades, there will be no host for the Oscars broadcast.  How will it affect the broadcast?  What might change in the broadcast because they’re won’t be a host?  Marci Gonzalez reports. 

 

Tuesday, February 19: 

  • “Unsung Heroes Behind the Oscars Broadcast”: Everyone, of course, pays attention to the stars as they glide across the stage during the Oscars broadcast.  But there’s a whole team of people working behind the scenes to support the stars as they get ready to take the stage.  This package will look at the announcer of the show, the florist for the Oscars, and the makeup artist who is the last person to see each person before they take the stage.  Danya Bacchus reports. 

  
Wednesday, February 20: 

  • “Best Actress Category”: There are so many great stories in this year’s Best Actress category: Glenn Close, looking for her first win after seven nominations.  Melissa McCarthy, a surprise nominee for MOVIE TITLE.  Lady Gaga, a newcomer to the big screen for his breakout performance in “A Star is Born.”  Yalitza Aparicio, an unknown nominated for “Roma,” and Olivia Colman, an international star but relatively unknown in the U.S.  Marci Gonzalez reports. 


Thursday, February 21: 

  • “Black Panther”: “Black Panther” is the first Superhero movie to be nominated for Best Picture.  Danya Bacchus looks at this unique film and its cultural significance, and interviews Ruth E. Carter, nominated for Best Costume Design for the film, who talks about the making of “Black Panther.”
     

Friday, February 22:  

  • Oscar Preps Package with Marci Gonzalez (for Friday afternoon newscasts) 


Saturday, February 23: 

  • Oscar Preps Package with Danya Bacchus (for Saturday newscasts) 


Sunday, February 24:  

  • Oscar preview package with Danya Bacchus (for Sunday early morning newscasts) 

  • Oscar preview package with Marci Gonzalez (for afternoon newscasts before the Awards) 

  • Oscar wrapup package with Marci Gonzalez (for late newscasts after the Awards) 


Monday, February 25:
