Houses of worship are supposed to be places of peace— of spiritual renewal and joy. Sanctuaries to seek God. They’re not supposed to be war zones. Yet in recent years, Houses of Worship have not been spared the type of violence that many other walks of life have witnessed.

 

ABC News Chief Justice Correspondent Pierre Thomas sat down with three representatives of house of worship that have endured horrifying attacks in recent years.

 

• Rev. Frank Pomeroy from First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Texas and his wife Sherri

• Pastor Eric Manning from Emanuel AME Church in Charleston, South Carolina

• And Alan Hausman, Vice President of Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh

 

They spoke candidly about the tragedies they endured, the changes that were made in the aftermath—but also the resilience and hope learned from their congregations.
